Sourcing serviceFor Australian boutiques and stockists
When Italy's summer winds down, Prato still has linen and warm-weather stock on the rails, right as your spring buying begins. Choose it on a video call in your evening and receive it in one shipment, on one invoice.
Buying from the other side of the world
European collections are designed for a northern calendar. Preorder from a brand and your summer pieces turn up in their summer, which is the start of your winter. Local wholesalers fix the timing, but their ranges are the ones every other stockist in your area can buy as well.
Going direct to Prato solves both problems, except that it is a long flight away, the warehouses work Italian hours and each one wants its own payment and paperwork.
We line up the Italian calendar with yours and do the running around in Prato for you.
The inverted calendar
From late spring to early autumn in Italy, Prato’s warehouses are full of linen, viscose, printed cotton and resortwear. That is exactly what Australian shops need between September and February. The same works in reverse: Italian winter knits and coats are on the rails when your cool season approaches.
Prato largely shuts down in August, so we plan your sessions around it and around your delivery dates, then check every piece before it is packed for the long trip.
What Australian shops buy
We mostly buy Italian-made womenswear for Australian stores, with a strong lean towards natural fibres and easy summer shapes. For the cooler months there is lightweight knitwear and outerwear that suits a mild winter.

Buying from Australia
From your store
Sydney is eight to ten hours ahead of Italy, depending on daylight saving. A morning session in Prato reaches you in the evening, and sessions held into the Italian evening, when showrooms agree, reach you early the next morning.
In Prato
Combine a buying trip with Europe: we collect you in Prato and spend the working day taking you through the showrooms that match your brief.
Importing into Australia
Your order travels DAP. The courier clears it through Australian customs and invoices you for duty, GST and its clearance fee before delivery.
Shipments valued above AUD 1,000 need a full import declaration. UPS, DHL or FedEx lodge it for you with the documents we prepare in Italy.
GST is worked out on the goods, freight and any duty combined. If your business is registered for GST, it can normally be claimed back on your BAS.
Customs duty, where it applies, depends on the tariff line of each item. The EU and Australia concluded a free trade agreement in 2026, which still has to come into force before it can lower costs.
Every garment carries its composition and care label. We can add your shop’s own neck labels or swing tags in Prato. Labels and packaging.

Australian questions
GST at 10%, plus customs duty where the tariff line carries one, plus the courier's clearance fee. We can estimate the landed cost with you before your first session.
It could reduce duty once it is in force. The agreement was concluded in 2026 but still has to be ratified, so for now standard Australian rules apply.
Italian summer ranges are on the rails from spring through early autumn, Prato closes for much of August, and transit takes time. The best windows are usually July and September, either side of the August break.
Nine in the morning in Prato is 5 to 7pm in Sydney and 3 to 4pm in Perth, depending on the time of year. Evening sessions in Italy fall in your early morning.
Yes. The EU and New Zealand have had a trade agreement in force since 2024, and clothing that satisfies its rules may enter at a lower duty. GST in New Zealand is 15%.
We invoice in euros, payable by Wise, bank transfer, card or PayPal, with your bank converting from Australian dollars. Payment of the pro forma falls due 5 calendar days after issue, and paying by card costs an extra 2.5 to 4.5 per cent.
