Live translation on Google Meet
Buy Italian fashion
in your own language
We run our interviews and live buying sessions on Google Meet with voice translation on. You talk in your language and hear our buyer in it a few seconds later.
- Free for you, no subscription
- On your phone or computer
Why it matters
Say exactly
what you mean
Buying in a second language is tiring. You simplify your questions, you nod at answers you only half understood, and the details you care about, like fit and fabric, get lost on the way.
With translation on, you ask in your own words. Our buyer answers in English or Italian and Meet reads the answer to you in your language, in a voice close to hers. WhatsApp and Zoom are still available, but Google Meet is the only way to run the whole session in your language if you don’t speak English.
What you get
- The interview and the live session in your language
- Questions about fit and fabric understood the way you asked them
- Prices and quantities confirmed in writing in the chat
- Nothing to pay and nothing to install except the Meet app
Good to know
- Translation works only on Google Meet, not on WhatsApp or Zoom
- The translated voice arrives a few seconds after the original
In the showroom
What a translated
session looks like
Take a boutique owner in São Paulo. She joins from her phone, picks Portuguese and keeps the call open while our buyer walks the showroom floor in Prato. Our buyer describes a linen dress in English, and a few seconds later the owner hears it in Portuguese. She asks to see the back of the dress and the colours in stock, in Portuguese, and our buyer hears the question in English.
When it comes to numbers, we stop and write them in the chat. Machine translation handles sentences well and numbers less well, so nothing gets ordered on the strength of a translated price.

This is what you see on an Android phone; on an iPhone the steps are practically the same. You need the Google Meet app on your phone. Our screens are in Italian: on yours the same buttons appear in your language, in the same place.
-
Tap the message that appears
Join from the link we send you. When we turn translation on, a message appears at the bottom of the screen with a button to set your language. Tap it. If the message has already gone, tap the small translation badge at the top left.
The highlighted button reads Imposta la lingua, set language. -
Choose the language you speak
In the first box, the language you speak in this call, pick your own language.
Avoid the option that turns translation off, or we will hear your voice untranslated.
The language you speak: here, Portuguese. -
Choose the language you want to hear
In the second box pick your language again. The same language in both boxes gives the best results.
The original speech option switches translation off for you.
The language you want to hear. -
Go back to the call
Tap the arrow at the top left. For a few seconds a note at the bottom left confirms that translation is on for the other participants.
If Meet asks for permission to translate your voice, confirm it.
Translation is on. -
Talk as usual
Use short sentences and pause at the end of each one. Wait for the translation to finish before you reply, so we don’t talk over each other.
Questions
Before your first call
No. The translation runs on our Google Workspace plan, because we organise the meeting. You pay nothing and need no subscription.
Google Meet translates speech in dozens of languages and Google keeps adding new ones. Tell us your language when you book the interview and we confirm it before the call. If it isn't available yet, we speak English or turn on translated captions.
Yes, if you prefer. WhatsApp and Zoom calls are not translated, so they work well if you are comfortable in English, Italian or Russian, the languages our team speaks.
It happens, mostly with product codes and numbers. Our buyer repeats anything important and writes prices and quantities in the chat, so you have them in writing before you order.
No. Translation needs the Meet app or a browser. If you call the dial-in number you hear the original audio only.
